Autumn is always a great time to indulge in entertaining TV, fascinating podcasts and can’t-put-downable books. But don’t neglect movement and other healthy habits: some of our Royce discoveries are all about staying fit, healthy and stress-free in the coming months.
If you’re looking for your new favourite thing this season, these are the feel-good recommendations from the team at Royce HQ to inspire you…
A funny or fascinating podcast is the perfect soundtrack to your commute, a walk, your gym workout or simply when pottering about doing household chores.
Hanna (sales manager) is loving… ‘Miss Me? With Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver’
“These two are my age (nearly 40) and talk openly about all sorts of stuff – give it a listen! I love listening to this, and other podcasts, when I’m working out in the gym.”
Francesca (commercial director) is loving… ‘ZOE Science & Nutrition’
“I’m now 11 months post-partum and am starting to focus on me again. As part of this, I’ve been listening to the ZOE podcast, which is a reliable source of gut health science, and talks about ways to help improve your weight and overall health.”
If, like Francesca, you’re also in the ‘baby bubble’ and looking for stylish nursing bras that are easy-to-use and ultra comfortable, shop our Best Selling Maternity and Nursing range
The weather isn’t too cold and isn’t too hot, making it perfect for some outdoor movement to get the endorphins going. Or, if you’re up for a challenge, try a different workout or new fitness class.
Claire (marketing executive) is loving… Running (a half marathon!)
“I’ve been desperate to get back into fitness since having my son, but have been struggling to find my mojo (and the time), so…I’ve signed up for a half marathon! It takes place in October, so I’ve been using my lunch breaks at work to run around the park near our office. It’s been a real game-changer to have a big goal to focus on.”
Hanna (sales manager) is loving…Weightlifting
“I’ve been really piling up the weights in the gym – it’s called progressive overload – and it helps you to build muscle and get toned. It’s not just to look and feel better; it’s for my mental health and to avoid health issues, such as osteoporosis, when I’m older.”
Gemma (design manager) is loving… Family bike rides
“My son got a new bike for his birthday, so while the weather has been nice we’ve been on a few family bike rides. We’ve been cycling in the Peak District and often enjoy a picnic in the middle of it.”
If you’re embarking on a new fitness journey, don’t forget your sports bra. Shop our selection, which is suitable for low, medium and high-impact activity.
What we’re watching….
Hanna says, “My guilty pleasures this season are Love is Blind UK [available on Netflix] and Strictly Come Dancing [catch-up on BBC iPlayer].” [Note: There’s no need to ever feel guilty about watching pleasurable TV!]
Gemma says, “Right now, I love curling up on the sofa to watch Emily in Paris [Netflix] and Only Murders in the Building [Disney+].”
What we’re reading…
Francesca says, “I’ve been reading Fast Like a Girl by Mindy Pelz. It’s a really interesting read and has helped me understand the body better and how my cycle affects me.”
Gemma says, “I’ve been enjoying a couple of Matt Haig books recently, How to Stop Time and The Radleys.”
Curl up with our Best Selling Comfort range, including the new Mia (so comfy you could sleep in it), a collection of bras that are perfect for lounging in – shop the range here.
Getting a good night’s kip is one of the pillars of good health, but it’s difficult to achieve if you have a busy job, young children or are going through menopause.
Claire is loving… Ethical Bedding’s silk eye masks
“My son started pre-school in September, so it’s been important to settle into a good evening routine to get him (and me) to bed earlier. I’m loving the eucalyptus silk eye masks by Ethical Bedding that we now stock on our website. They really do help me fall asleep quicker.”
Buy Ethical Bedding’s super soft eye mask made from 100% eucalyptus fabric, £25, available in various colours.
