Self-care secrets of the women behind Royce Lingerie and Hunters Moon

A walk in nature, settling down with a good book, or enjoying a long, hot bath – taking some time out to decompress, recharge and reconnect is essential when life is full of demands.
This month, to celebrate our new collaboration with luxury home fragrance makers Hunters Moon, we’re revealing the self-care rituals of the women behind the brands, plus how you can incorporate little comforts into your everyday life to boost your wellbeing.
Why are Royce Lingerie teaming up with Hunters Moon?
This is a collaboration born out of a friendship spanning over 20 years. Francesca, commercial director at Royce Lingerie, and Alice, who co-founded Hunters Moon with her sister Lucy, met at school near Banbury back in the 1990s. They’ve remained good friends ever since, with both following each other’s careers over the years – Alice has seen Francesca grow up with the family business and eventually become a director, while Francesca has watched Alice start-up a successful business with her sister from scratch.
For both businesses, quality and trust are important values alongside creating products that give their customers something comforting and supportive. With such strong synergy between the two brands it made sense to collaborate.
Francesca and Alice’s rules for self-care
Physical activity is one of Francesca’s self-care essentials. “I’m six months’ pregnant at the moment so I’ve switched up some of my exercise routines – the hardcore HIIT sessions and running didn’t feel right after a while,” she says.
But there’s still time for slowing it right down. “My perfect evening of self-care in the summer is a long walk in nature, followed by a yoga class and a healthy dinner. In the winter, it’s a candlelit bath with an episode of Stanley Tucci’s Searching for Italy on in the background.”
Alice is also a fan of movement for keeping her wellbeing in check. “I ensure I exercise at least three times a week, be that a walk, run, netball or an extra dog walk,” she says. “But my ultimate self-care ritual is running a hot bubble bath and lighting a candle.”
Alice adds, “My perfect self-care morning is …
getting up before anyone else and walking downstairs to a lovely tidy house. I’d light a candle and sit with a warm cup of tea and the Sunday supplements. Then I’d walk the dogs in the sunshine and appreciate the beautiful English countryside.”
…and if there’s one self-care essential they’d recommend to anyone?
“Take a nice long walk without your phone,” says Francesca. “Every so often, I’ll leave my phone at home to get some screen-free time, whether on a walk or when meeting friends for dinner.”
Alice says, “Try and find time for yourself even if it’s just five minutes to flick through a magazine or turn the pages of a book. Or go for a run – I’m not a runner and I never want to go, but my goodness does it make you feel good! You’ll never regret going for a run.”
