With women’s football growing in popularity and record-breaking numbers tuning in to the Women’s World Cup across the UK this year, Royce took the opportunity to start local in spreading the word about the importance of a sports bra.
Commercial Direct Francesca Fleming said:
“Educating girls about wearing a well-fitted sports bra is a huge task and what better way than starting with our local girls’ football team. We know that only 10% of girls between the ages of 11-17 wear a sports bra to exercise and this is often a barrier to them taking part.”[1]
The brand says there are three main things to look out for to get the right fitting sports bra. Firstly, breasts should be fully enclosed in the cups. Secondly the underband should be snug; not too loose. And finally, straps should be well adjusted so that you can just fit two fingers under them.
The U13 coach Andy Sharman commented:
“The progression of the girls’ teams has been amazing over the last two seasons. We are now a top four team in the league and have around 50 girls across all age ranges training on a Thursday night. We want to see these numbers grow and to think girls would be put off by not having a sports bra would be a real shame.”
Since the success of the evening, Royce will be working with the local club to look at sponsorship opportunities.
Commercial Director, Francesca Fleming added:
“It’s important that girls learn from an early age about the importance of getting a well fitted bra. It can be an embarrassing time when they start to develop, so our aim is to provide them with all the information they need to get a supportive sports bra, as well as a discount off their first purchase.”
